Sites at Cow Creek South will be 'first come, first served' for the 2011 season due to construction.

Located on the northeast shore of Green Mountain Reservoir, the Cow Creek  Campgrounds are undeveloped campgrounds with vault toilets and a stay limit of 14 days.  The Cow Creek Campgrounds sit at an elevation of 7,954 feet.  Campsites at both Cow Creek South and Cow Creek North are on a First-Come, First-Serve basis.  A FEE WILL BE CHARGED.  The maximum number of people and vehicles per site, varies by site size, there is a maximum vehicle length of 50 feet. An extra, per vehicle fee, can be charged for more than 2 vehicles at a site. Discounts may apply, see pay station.

GREEN MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR/CATARACT LAKE RECREATION MANAGEMENT PLAN 

Since 1943, recreational development on and around Green Mountain Reservoir and Cataract Lake has evolved with limited long range planning.  Some plans have been drafted, but never implemented.  The management to date has been generally satisfactory, however, increased use, conflicts among user groups, conflicts among recreation uses, lack of consistent funding, and resource impacts indicate that a long-range plan is needed.  Click on the photo of Green Mountain Reservoir below to view the new Recreation Management Plan.
